LA BAL CHALOUPÉ
“Le Bal” in French describes a joyful gathering where people come together to dance — “Chaloupé” is the term used to describe all of the Creole grooves in a melting pot: Maloya, Cumbia, Merengue, Rumba, Afrobeat, Forró, Kuduro… in other words, the ancestral spirit of popular dance halls, reimagined with tropical rhythms from around the world.
A fusion born from the Caribbean and African diasporas, Le Bal Chaloupé is an invitation to dance. Festive, unifying, and deeply human, the six musicians invent new soundscapes where musical spontaneity and rhythm’s “chaloupé" carry the audience into a cultural journey built around one simple, endless goal: to make people dance!
The live show promises vibrant musical energy through weaving together traditions and modernity. Resistance is futile: feet stomp, hips sway, and the dance floor comes alive until the very last song. Each piece is a journey — a dialogue between cultures and the celebration of diversity.
Their eclectic repertoire moves seamlessly between Brazilian forró, Colombian cumbia, Angolan semba, Cape Verdean funaná, Haitian kompa, and Antillean zouk, enriched with original arrangements that turn each concert into a collective celebration. You will find, voicals, percussion, accordion, synths, clarinet and strings that all converse together to create a sound that is both authentic and contemporary.
Le Bal Chaloupé was born from a simple desire: to revive the warm, unifying spirit of the popular bal. Over the years, the project has grown, shaped by musicians from diverse backgrounds, all driven by their love of live performance and the joy of sharing.
