Sara Curruchich has become one of the most popular artists among the indigenous peoples of Guatemala, with her enchanting voice traveling between folk, rock, cumbia, reggae, and Kaqchikel Maya music.

Over the past ten years, she has done two albums, and numerous tours, Sara Curruchich has now established herself as one of the most popular artists in her country, Guatemala. Born in 1993, she hails from the Kaqchikel people, one of the components of the Maya mosaic in Central America. Her songs, sung in Spanish or Kaqchikel—one of the 23 officially recognized indigenous languages—reflect her struggles alongside women and indigenous communities.

As the revelation artist of the 2024 Folk Awards, Sara Curruchich offers an intimate musical experience on stage, where the enchanting melodies of this Maya artist and the magical harmonies of Luis Juarez Quixtan will transport you to the heart of indigenous Maya culture. Her captivating voice soars above songs inspired by folk, rock, cumbia, reggae, and traditional Kaqchikel Maya music.

Her voice and message of love, awareness, respect, and the defense of life in all its forms make her a beacon of light and hope for many women and men.

Her music encompasses various genres, including rock, folk, and traditional Kaqchikel Maya music. Her voice is recognized not only in the fields of art and music but also within various communities and social discussion spaces, as she is deeply committed to historical memory. She has performed on prestigious stages in South America, Central America, North America, and Europe.

Sara Curruchich does not limit her activism to the situation of Maya women in Guatemala: "Racism and violence are not only experienced in Guatemala, and discussing these themes should be everyone’s responsibility because we need to change our environments to restore dignity and put an end to racism and discrimination. My messages truly reflect love and respect for diversities, whether sexual or cultural."

Her latest album, *Mujer Indígena*, integrates sounds that invite us not only to discover other cultural rhythms but also to explore the powerful messages that seek to highlight the dignity, existence, and path of indigenous women worldwide. This album features collaborations with personalities such as Lila Downs, Rosalina Tuyuc, Carmen Cúmez, Muerdo, and Amparo Sánchez.

After the success of her last two international tours, with over 80 dates taking her to Spain, France, Slovenia, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, and Colombia, Sara sang at the opening ceremony of the prestigious Folk Music Awards in Kansas (USA), followed by her participation in Folk Alliance International and the SXSW festival in Austin.

Sara's recent collaborations with Carmen María Vega (France) and Vivir Quintana (Mexico) address themes that accompany and support women's struggles. Finally, Sara will dedicate part of the year to supporting and developing the voices of indigenous talents.
