Tasuta N-Imal, meaning “Future Generation” in the Amazigh language, is a musical group with a mission to translate into music the history, values, and traditions of the nomadic mountain people and the sedentary communities of the southeastern Anti-Atlas region of Morocco. Originating from the small village of Slilou, located in the town of Boumalne Dades between Tinghir and Ouarzazate, the group is dedicated to preserving the rich cultural heritage of their region and passing it on to future generations and the world—hence their name, “Future Generation.”.
Composed of six members, Tasuta N-Imal infuses its music with the values of solidarity, love, and peace that define the region from which they come. They are a true musical family, united by a shared purpose and deep-rooted connection.
Let yourself be carried away by the rhythms of the ganga, a traditional Amazigh percussion instrument that sets the pace and energy of the group’s compositions. Feel the power of the enchanting melodies played on the Amazigh flute and lute, ancient instruments that tell thousand-year-old stories. Be moved by the expressive and powerful voices of Mehdi and Yassine Akhmouch, who sing of love, loss, hope, and the resilience of the Amazigh people.
Beyond the music, Tasuta N-Imal offers a true immersion into Amazigh culture. Their traditional attire, unique instruments, and songs in the Amazigh language transport audiences to the heart of this rich and fascinating heritage. It is a unique opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of an ancestral culture.
Today, Tasuta N-Imal carries the torch of this music, but a new generation will someday take it up, ensuring that the journey of preserving heritage and culture continues. The group, with its six members, breathes into its music the values of solidarity, love, and peace. They are bound together as a musical family, driven by a common goal
Their musical repertoire draws inspiration from a diverse cultural legacy—including Ahidus, Ahwash, Izlan n Tyerza, Tizrarin, Timnadin, Tagnawit, among others—from the southeastern Anti-Atlas region. At the same time, they incorporate global genres like rock & roll, blues, pop, and desert rock.
Blending tradition and modernity, the group appeals to a wide audience. Their lyrics are performed in a style that honors the musical traditions of their region while offering deep insights into the lives of nomads, mountain dwellers, and sedentary communities—their current struggles and their timeless values.
The group was first formed in 2008 with only two members. The full current lineup came together in early 2014, marking the true beginning of their artistic career. "The most important achievement we’ve made so far, after meeting the members of the group—which I consider a challenging and rewarding journey—is to create a human bond with our family of listeners around the world,” says Ismail TASUTA.
